JA Guam Companies compete for Year-end title

Saturday, January 6, 2018 – Agana Shopping Center, Tamuning, Guam

Junior Achievement Guam hosted the JAG COY Competition 2018 in the Agana Shopping Center with eight participating student companies.  Officers representing Shoa Co., Mask-R-Aid, Origins, Beyond 5 Stars, Paluma, Alternature, Southern Production and Fulfill fielded questions from judges, displayed their merchandise through the booth presentation and displayed their company knowledge during a four minute on-stage presentation. 

JA Guam Company Program Sponsors included ASC Trust, Bank of Guam, Bank of Hawaii, Triple J Enterprises, Community First Federal Credit Union, Energetic Essence and Guam Community College DECA Program.  In School programs included DECA programs at JFK High School, Simon Sanchez High School and Southern High School.

COY Judges representing various industries on island, included Toni Sanford of Sanford Technologies, Craig Wade of JRV Inc, Siska Hutapea of Cornerstone Valuation Inc., Marissa Tinsay of United Airlines, Julius Santos of GEDA, Jane Ray of PINSBDC, Janet Taitano-Arroyo of Personal Finance Center and Jason Katigbak of IP&E.  They were tasked with conducting interviews, evaluating booths and on-stage presentation.  The judges deliberated on the winners of each category including Best in Show, Best Commercial, Highest Return of Investment, Best Annual Report, Vice President of Marketing, Finance and Production, President of the Year and the coveted title of Company of the Year.

The winning team will represent Guam in the 2018 Junior Achievement Asia Pacific Company of the Year competition in Beijing, China from March 28-31, 2018.

The event was presented by Guam Economic Development Authority, sponsored by Core Tech International, Bank of Guam, Bank of Hawaii, Triple J Enterprises, United Airlines, GTA Teleguam, Ada’s Trust and Investment, Inc. and Xerox. 

The winners of each category will be announced during the JA Guam Awards Banquet on January 13, 4:00 p.m. at the Bank of Guam Headquarters in Hagatna.
