JA Economics for Success ® introduces middle school students to the various elements of personal finance along with the importance of identifying education and career goals based on their skills, interests, and values. The ultimate objective of the program is to allow students to understand the essence of a successful economic life.

Peer to peer mentoring

The workshop will be led by high school students who participated in this past year’s company program, providing a peer to peer mentoring aspect to the middle school program . The entire workshop is three hours long and consists of engaging hands-on activities and learning exercises.

Career exploration and personal finance

“The core goals of JA Economics for Success® is really about helping students get prepared for high school and beyond,” said Mark Wang, the student lead for the program. Wang further added that “the things we cover are specifically tailored to a middle school audience, which is the same material that is used by other JA organizations worldwide. We’re hopeful that this will be a fun and engaging learning experience for all participants.”

The workshop will be split into four areas: identifying and exploring career interests, budgeting, risk management, and spending methods.

“Junior Achievement Worldwide offers a variety of educational programs and we’re rolling these programs into Guam as we believe our students deserve access to these free comprehensive resources. Junior Achievement is all about preparing students for the real world and this program is part of that mission by introducing students to the concepts of financial literacy and work readiness”, says Pinki Lujan, Executive Director of Junior Achievement Guam.

Junior Achievement’s mission is to prepare and inspire today’s youth to succeed in a global economy. The organization strives to prepare young people for their future by delivering hands-on experiential learning in work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
